AUDIT

The writer got paid. Did you?

It finds works where the writer side was paid but the publisher share never appeared at all, by comparing both sides across every period — and it carries the claim from opening to resolution.

The problem it solves

In international distributions the quietest loss is a publisher share that never shows up. The writer side is paid regularly while the publisher side stays empty for years — and this is invisible if you look at a single period statement. What is missing is not an amount but the line itself; you have to look for something that is not there.

That is why the comparison has to run between two files with every period stacked on top of one another. A work that appears on the writer side and never on the publisher side is a claim candidate.

How it works

Upload both files

You provide the rights-holder-side and publisher-side international distribution files together.

Match the works

Works are matched on a key; name-order differences in works with several writers are resolved.

Separate the candidates

Works with income on the writer side but no counterpart on the publisher side are listed with their society and territory.

Pursue the claim

A claim record is opened for each candidate and tracked through open, confirmed and resolved. Whether it was recovered in a later period — or recurred — is followed across periods.

Two files, one comparison

The publisher-side and rights-holder-side files are read together. Neither is meaningful on its own — the finding only emerges from the gap between them.

Input and output

WHAT YOU PROVIDE

  • Rights-holder-side international distribution file
  • Publisher-side international distribution file
  • A template describing the file format

WHAT YOU GET

  • Claim candidates listed per period
  • Breakdown by territory and society
  • Trackable claim records
  • Cross-period recovery and recurrence tracking

What it does not do

Knowing the limits of a tool matters as much as knowing its capabilities.

  • It does not file claims with foreign societies automatically; the output feeds a process you run yourself.
  • It looks for shares that never formed, not for rate discrepancies — that is the domestic module’s job.
